Economic evaluation of healthcare interventions
Economic evaluation methods in health care are developed to address the issue of scarce resources and to facilitate decision makers in the selection of the best possible option between the available interventions. Symmetron has developed health economic analyses for a wide range of therapeutic areas including oncology, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, thrombosis, cardiovascular disease, gynaecology, mental health, multiple sclerosis, antiviral treatments, neurology, pulmonary diseases, diagnostics, and various applications of mechanical devices.
Mathematical modelling and biostatistics
Symmetron expertise covers a variety of economic modelling methods; cohort analysis, stochastic analysis, individual simulation models etc. By applying the most appropriate mathematical modelling and statistical techniques, we illustrate the potential of the intervention for a successful reimbursement. Symmetron applies a variety of statistical approaches in synthesising information for economic modelling (meta-analysis, indirect comparison analysis, mixed treatment comparison analysis).
Reimbursement applications
Symmetron staff support annually on average 4-6 reimbursement submissions to NICE and SMC. In addition, Symmetron has developed reimbursement submissions to regulatory authorities in Canada (CDR), Sweden (TLV), Netherlands (CVZ), Ireland (NCPE), Norway (SLV), Australia (PBAC), Finland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, France, Portugal, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, Estonia, US, South Korea, Brazil, Argentina and many more.
Literature review
Symmetron has conducted reviews in a variety of therapeutic areas including rheumatoid arthritis, thrombosis, cardiovascular disease, antiviral treatments, pulmonary diseases, diagnostics, and various applications of mechanical devices.
Early-stage economic analysis
The objective of early-stage economic analysis is to develop a transparent tool to facilitate the manufacturer’s decision on the optimal price for the new intervention. The analysis involves the development of a model and review of comparator data. This identifies the main-drivers of cost-effectiveness in the area, the most relevant outcomes for upcoming Phase III studies and consequently allows the calculation of the best evidence-based price estimates.
Interactive market access tools
Interactive economic models can be used to influence decision makers on the potential of the health care intervention. Symmetron has developed a number of budget impact models, interactive economic models, cost calculators etc. These tools are tailor made and developed with flexibility to allow interactivity between the user and the audience for a live presentation of the model results.
